Grandmother’s Love
AN ORIGINAL POEM
When you come calling,
I want you to see,
Who I'm trying to be.
Heartache doesn’t last forever,
I’ll say I’m fine.
Is
it selfish to say I need you?
Because nothing compares to a
grandmother’s love.
I’ll close my door.
Don’t
wanna be reminded,
Don’t wanna be seen.
Don’t wanna be without you.
So, I'll just cry.
Is it selfish to say I need you?
Because nothing compares to a
grandmother’s love.
Now that you’re gone.
I just hope your memory’s proud of
me.
I might cry myself to sleep.
And imagine that you’re here with
me.
Sometimes I wish you could be here.
To give me that special love.
I try to scream out my lungs,
but the tears stream down my face.
Is
it selfish to say I need you?
Because father’s love is something I
don’t know.
If I’m louder,
Could you hear me?
Could I lay down in your arms as you
rescue me?
We are the same.
You save me.
But when you leave it’s gone again.
Though I try to get you out of my
head.
The truth is I got lost without you.
I know I have mom…
But both of you keep me strong.
Is it selfish to say I need you?
Because nothing compares to a
grandmother’s love.
